Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican American sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is a native bilingual. Since she was nine years old, her ability to communicate in two languages led to her obtaining the job she wanted in Miami as an assistant production at Univision. As an assistant producer, she had the opportunity to be a part of national show producers, such as Nuestra Belleza Latina. Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. She was hired as an reporter at the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Covering stories on trafficking in drugs and immigration on both sides of Mexico-Texas border, she worked as a reporter for the 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of the 9 p.m. newscast, which was in English as well as another reporter for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. It was the same role for Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo on the UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents come from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually settled in Mexico City and she was born on the 22nd of November in 1985. She is older than her sister. In 1992, the family relocated to Miami after relocating from Mexico into the US. The couple divorced within a short time and in the year 1995, she got married to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 due to kidney cancer. The summer in 2006 she took a week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working at the time. Antonietta who was in high school with an idea of what she would like her life to look like, traveled to Mount Union University to see whether the university was suitable for her. The campus was a dream for her. They also offered her the program she was interested in. After completing her high school education, she was accepted into the University to pursue media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the director at WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was a member. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her confidence, and his passion in Journalism touched her deeply. As a result, she determined to meet his demands, never letting him down.
